The bling ring strikes again!

TMZ is reporting that Laker guard Nick Young was burglarized last month and robbed of $500K dollars in cash and jewels.

Nick Young joins a growing list of Los Angeles celebrities and sports stars that have been ripped off by thieves in the last few months. As reported here earlier this week, Yasiel Puig had over $500K in jewelry and watches stolen; former Laker Derek Fisher’s 5 Championship rings along with other luxury jewelry were taken in January, and recording artist Alanis Morissette was robbed of $2 million in jewelry last month.

According to TMZ sports, Young was in New Orleans for the NBA All-Star Weekend and forgot to lock a door in his LA home. Burglars were able to walk in and remove a safe containing $30,000 in cash as well as gold chains and a custom ring.

Did the burglars target Young after monitoring his social media accounts?

As we’ve seen in the Kim Kardashian heist and perhaps the Puig case, social media may have played a role in this latest crime. Robbers can get a close look at a celebrity’s home interior and expensive items through photos shared publicly on social media. Young has an active twitter  (388K followers) and Instagram account (2.6million followers).

More from LA Sports Hub

This is not the first time Young has been burglarized. TMZ Sports reported that in 2014 another home he was renting in Los Angeles was robbed of several expensive items including Louboutin shoes, jewelry, and Louis Vuitton luggage. Young was at the Staples Center playing a game against the Orlando Magic during the robbery and police reported that Young failed to lock a door in-house allowing robbers easy access.

After having one of his worst seasons last year, Young has rebounded to be a major contributor on this young Laker team and is having one of his best seasons of his career.

So, while I’m glad he’s recommitted to the game of basketball and his Laker team, I just wish he could  remember to lock his dang door.
