Yunel Escobar

If the Los Angeles Angels did not want to trade a young talent in C.J. Cron, the next best option is to deal veteran third baseman Yunel Escobar. Escobar was quite the surprise for the Halos last season, and now with only one year left contract, we may see him dealt down the line to a playoff contender.

Ideally, the Angels would look to flip a half season’s worth of Yunel Escobar for some depth in their farm. If the Angels are making a legitimate push for the postseason, or they already traded Cron, I don’t see this deal happening. However, if the Angels season is another dud, they might be best suited to deal Escobar at the deadline.

More from Angels Rumors

Playoff contenders are desperate, we all know that. We witness bewildering trades that sometimes don’t make sense for a clubs future only, only in hopes that they bring home World Series gold. The Angels could capitalize on that, and a destination that makes sense would be the Boston Red Sox.

We have already seen that the Red Sox will deal prospects for talent, that is a no brainer. With Pablo Sandoval likely not returning to panda form, the Red Sox only hole will be at third base.

That is where Escobar comes in, and the Angels rob the Red Sox.I could see the Red Sox dealing big league pitching prospect Eduardo Rodriguez to the Halos.

The Sox already have a great rotation, so they don’t necessarily need Rodriguez. Add in Sam Travis and Bobby Dalbec and the Halos would undoubtedly win this trade.

This would give both sides what they wanted. The Angels would get some farm depth with a first and third base prospect, and the Red Sox would get the perfect transition piece into third base prospect Rafael Devers.

There you have it, there are three Angels trade rumors that you, the fan, should take note of. If the Halos to want keep Mike Trout in the future, they are going to need to convince him to stay.
