As the 2017 MLB season fast approaches, rumors will continue to swirl. The latest Angels rumors has the Angels struggling.

While multiple Angels rumors always surface that could dictate the performance of the team, there is none perhaps this accurate. In this prediction of the team’s performance the Angels turn virtual, and find themselves struggling unlike their Los Angeles counterparts.

This simulation that I am discussing is in regards to the widely popular and praised video game MLB the Show 17. The MLB the Show franchise is a baseball series of video games that dates back to 2006. Sony produces the game which is developed over at San Diego Studio, leading to the game only being available on Sony consoles.

While every prediction made regarding the season should be taken with a grain of salt, as anything could happen, this method of prediction seems to be more viable than others. The MLB the Show franchise has been praised on being the most accurate game on the market, therefore, the accuracy should correlate into the prediction.

Like always though, anything can happen throughout the course of the hectic MLB season, and for all we know we could be seeing Mike Trout hoisting up the Commissioners Trophy come October. However, the guys that developed MLB the Show 17 may say otherwise.

App Trigger, a FanSided affiliated website, did the honors of running this simulation to give us these results. According to said results, the Angels had another disappointing season finishing with a 74-87 record. This record was good for fourth in the American League West, and there struggles were showcased with a -58 run differential.

Despite having Mike Trout, one of two 99 overall players (The other being Clayton Kershaw), the Angels were unable to make any impact on the year. Not to worry for Angels’ fans although, as Trout had another Mike Trout caliber season. According to App Trigger, Trout had:

"a .997 fielding percentage, 98 walks, .956 OPS, 34 home runs, 99 RBI, 26 stolen bases, 85 runs and a 9.5 WAR in MLB The Show 17"

As you can see, that is yet another outstanding season from Trout, and it makes perfect sense as he does boast that rare 99 overall. However, Trout failed to bring in his third MVP award, losing it to Cleveland Indians own Edwin Encarnacion. The only accolade Trout had to boast at the end of the year was a Silver Slugger award, so no Angels fans, he has not won a Gold Glove yet.

More from Angels Rumors

The rest of the guys in Anaheim not named Mike Trout failed to really do anything special. Geovanny Soto had an outburst in slugging 23 home runs, and Tyler Skaggs led the pitching staff with a sub 3.00 ERA.

According to the simulation, the Angels rotation was actually fairly good. The thing that killed them all season long was their disastrous bullpen, which let up 26 blown saves. You figure if the team could only blow 10 saves for the year they would have finished first in the AL West.

Maybe one day we can witness the best player in baseball win a playoff game, but 2017 does not appear to be the year for the Angels according to the latest Angels rumors. With a long injury history and a considerable lack of depth in the organization, the Angels must be patient if they want to bring the World Series back to the happiest place on earth.

Next: Dodgers do something unseen since 1974 in simulation.
