Manti Te’o has left the Los Angeles Chargers for the New Orleans Saints as part of NFL free agency 2017.

Manti Te’o reportedly signed a 2 year deal with the Saints. Ironically, this where the previous great Chargers quarterback, Drew Brees, plays.

Los Angeles drafted Te’o in 2013 to bolster their defense. Over the years their defense has improved. Losing Eric Weddle to the Ravens allowed for other players to step up and show their team what they are capable of.

As a team on defense and whole when healthy the Chargers are lethal. Manti Te’o was doing well his first few years with the bolts. Then, in 2016, he didn’t do good — well, because he only played 3 games.

He tore his Achilles at the beginning of the 2016 season. This was the year he was going to take flight in his career. Let me put his skill set to perspective with his numbers from the 2015 season.

He had 63 total tackles, 20 assisted, 83 combined. This isn’t so bad with many critics who disapproved of him when he first came into the league.

In 2017 he will be coming back from an injury and playing for a Saints team that drastically needs help on defense.

Manti Te’o is probably going to do something special with the Saints. However remember they are still placing pieces together on defense. Their offense is always good especially with Drew Brees at the helm.

Only if Manti Te’o stayed with the Chargers could he have been a part of something special there in Los Angeles. Their offense is usually always good and their defense proved what they can do given the circumstances.

Manti Te’o is now going to miss out on a playoff run with the Chargers, I personally think. Also, he was one of their many leaders. Now he he will be a leader for the Saints and perhaps the leader on defense.

In conclusion, Manti Te’o is going to unleash himself come the start of the 2017 NFL Regular season.
