The latest Lakers rumors look at a draft selection that could be shocking by Los Angeles.

For the Lakers, this year’s draft is huge for a number of reasons — most of which are addressed via Lakers rumors. Not only is it a chance to add to the decent young core they have right now, but it’s a chance to land a future superstar.

Thus far, the search for that kind of talent is still in progress. Time will tell if D’Angelo Russell is the real deal at point guard, while other draft picks have shown some fruit.

More specifically, players like Brandon Ingram and Ivica Zubac are giving hints of what they can really do long term. Ingram needs to grow some more, while Zubac’s maturity should be at the top of the team’s priority list.

They won’t be able to function as a contender in the Western Conference without a confident big man. In the immediate future, Zubac should be the go-to guy at that position.

Rumors are still circulating about whether or not the Lakers will draft a point guard. In those rumors, former UCLA phenom Lonzo Ball has had his name come up a lot. If not Ball, the conversation transitions to former Washington freshman Markette Fultz.

Both of which are great players at their respective spots, but neither could be the missing puzzle piece for the Lakers.

Here’s three reasons why the Lakers shouldn’t sleep on Josh Jackson.
