Lakers free agency: Three reasons to pursue Carmelo Anthony
By Keith Rivas
The fans deserve more than an extended rebuild
In order to get the team back on its feet, a rebuild is necessary. This can be a testing time for the fan base, as the outcome is usually not a lot of winning. Having Carmelo Anthony on the roster means that the fans will have a superstar again.
It hasn’t been that long since Kobe Bryant retired, but that doesn’t mean the Staples Center faithful are fine with just a young core.

After the last few seasons have been unsuccessful in free agency, it would be nice of them to make a splash. Both Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka have indicated that they have a plan with regard to the lottery as well as hopes for a superstar.
Now could be that chance.
If they don’t get or go after Carmelo Anthony, the question for them becomes who the best member of the young core is. Depending on what you’re looking at, the answer isn’t always a straight forward one.
When talking potential, the name that’s come up a lot more recently is Brandon Ingram. He plans to work out with Kobe Bryant over the summer, which could change how he contributes next season.
The bottom line, however, is bringing back the Lakers to a place where the fans want to be. Carmelo Anthony does just that.
