Closing Thoughts

Ultimately, the decisions that the Lakers face fall at the feet of Magic Johnson. The team decided to trust him as the team’s new president at the trade deadline, and now it’s up to him to make the magic happen.

It’s arguable that nobody understands the importance of star power in Los Angeles more than Magic Johnson. In order for potential transactions for players like Carmelo Anthony to work out, Johnson will have to know when a veteran is welcome and when he’s overstayed his welcome.

An example of such is the dilemma they face with Mozgov and Deng heading into next year.

While there’s room for benefit of the doubt for now, that won’t always be the case. Los Angeles wants to get back to their winning ways as soon as possible.

So when it comes to Carmelo Anthony, the words of another star, Russell Westbrook, come to mind.
