Boston Celtics

One of the teams that was rumored to be interested in Blake Griffin this year was the Boston Celtics. After securing the top seed in the Eastern Conference, they have struggled in their opening series against the Chicago Bulls.

Overall, Boston is on the right track to remaining a powerhouse in the conference. For long enough, teams in the Eastern Conference have tried time after time to take dethrone LeBron James.

Making a move for Griffin could get them to that point.

In addition to some noteworthy success this year, the Celtics will also have a first round pick courtesy of the Brooklyn Nets. Since Brooklyn finished with the worst record in the league, there’s a strong chance that they’ll end up getting to pick first overall as a result of the draft lottery.

All of these factors matter when it comes to swaying Blake Griffin. Explaining to him that there’s already a winning culture without him and that with him they can be a whole new monster is a pitch he could listen to.

One problem the Celtics face, however, if they do pursue him is a choice between superstars that could come back to haunt them. If his injury bug follows, he’ll be no good to the team when they need him.

And this would also mean that they may wait on making a move for Jimmy Butler or Carmelo Anthony.
