Brandon Moss has been nothing short of woeful at designated hitter for the Royals, which may lead them to seek a power hitting back to fill that slot. Lucky for them, Adrian Gonzalez, despite still being a great fielder, could make that move to designated hitter, solely focus on hitting, and vastly prolong his productivity at the MLB level.

With Lorenzo Cain in the last year of his contract the Royals could potentially be shopping the outfielder. The Dodgers may need to give up more than Oaks, perhaps replacing him with Walker Buehler instead – but Oaks is big league ready now and that could entice the Royals. Regardless, the Dodgers would be going all in on 2017 with this deal.

More from Dodgers Rumors

Lorenzo Cain is a great all-around player and is especially dangerous against left-handed pitching. The slugging center fielder bats .307 against left-handed pitching alongside a .281 average against right-handed pitching in his career.

Against right-handed pitching the Dodgers could then shift Joc Pederson to left field, giving the Dodgers one of the best defensive outfields in the league. Pederson and Cain are both great fielders, adding to the dynamic bats that both men possess.

Alongside Cain the Dodgers are also acquiring southern California native Jason Vargas, who has been thriving this season with a 0.44 ERA. This piece would likely require the Dodgers to also throw in Buehler, but regardless, this deal would be in the Dodgers best interest.

Overall, I do not think there is a single Dodger fan that wants to see Adrian Gonzalez go, myself included. However, these Dodgers rumors are enticing, and with Cody Belinger looming we may see Gonzalez dealt in the future.
