1. Clayton Kershaw

April Stats: 4-1, 35.1 IP, 2.29 ERA, 39 K’s

Just like clockwork, Clayton Kershaw had yet another great month for the Los Angeles Dodgers. I think we are all starting to get numb to his greatness, as every time I see Kershaw taking the mound I practically assume the team will win. Granted, he is not perfect and he does have one in the loss column this month, but he was the Clayton Kershaw we all know and love.

More from Dodgers Rumors

Kershaw has been nothing short of pure genius in the month of may. All but one of his starts saw him go seven innings, allowing two or fewer runs while striking out at least seven. The only blunder on Kershaw’s April resume was his April eighth loss against the Colorado Rockies. Kershaw allowed four runs in six innings.

If it wasn’t for back-to-back home runs in the sixth in that game Kershaw would easily have ended April 5-0. Neither of those home runs were monster bombs, with both arguably being fly outs if they were not in Coors Field.

If Kershaw would have extended that night to seven innings with one run, his ERA would be sitting at 1.78.

This is nothing new from Clayton Kershaw, as we all see his greatness every time he takes the mound. Kershaw will be making his case for his fourth Cy Young award this year, and if April means anything, he has a very good chance of doing so.

Overall, the Dodgers pitching staff has been good, not great, in April. The bullpen has picked up the slack when they needed it, and the rotation ended a sluggish month on a very high note. Let’s hope these Dodgers rumors continue and we see each pitcher blossom into their best form.
