Josh Jackson

Another option for the Lakers is former Kansas star Josh Jackson. There’s more versatility with Jackson’s game, while he also gives the team something to work with that’s not a point guard.

When the team drafted D’Angelo Russell in 2015, they did so hoping that he’d be their point guard of the future. It was a long term decision that LA should respect unless they can get a veteran.

Starting over with a rookie point guard might not be what Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka believe is in the best interest of the team. If that holds true, Josh Jackson is a great choice.

One of the problems that the Lakers run into if Jackson ends up at the top of their draft board is the draft order. Should the order not change from the win-loss records after the draft lottery, Los Angeles would pick third.

Boston has Brooklyn’s top first round pick, and the chances are that they’ll aim for Fultz unless something else drastically impresses them to choose otherwise. Then, the Phoenix Suns would pick — and they could end up with Jackson.

However, if the ex-Kansas star falls through the cracks, expect the Lakers to have a tougher decision to make than meets the eye.
