Matt Harvey

We actually already did an entire article on why Matt Harvey could be an unexpected fit with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The feedback from that article, well, it was definitely mixed. Some recognized that Harvey still might have that immensely high ceiling, and just needs a change of scenery. Others, well they dispelled Harvey for his off the field actions, and rightfully so.

The Harvey-Mets saga is a pretty long one to explain, long story short Harvey did not show up to the Mets game and received a three game ban. The reason for missing the game was that he missed curfew the night before, the golfing the morning of the game. While Harvey’s initial reasoning was a migraine, it is evident this was a lapse of judgment on his part.

This tension between the Mets and Harvey may cause New York to seek out a deal to send away the right-hander. While Harvey certainly is not close to his 2013 form, he still has that potential in him, and at 28 years old he is reaching his athletic prime.

There is no doubt that Harvey would thrive as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers. First, pitching alongside Clayton Kershaw seems to benefit everybody, second, Rick Honeycutt is the best pitching coach in baseball, and third, Chavez Ravine itself is a very pitcher friendly ball park.

Harvey’s trade value is lower than it has ever been for the New York Mets, which may prompt the Dodgers to pull the trigger.
