Lakers draft rumors: The case for drafting De’Aaron Fox
By Keith Rivas
The latest Lakers draft rumors address the potential of picking up De’Aaron Fox.
While Lakers draft rumors are already starting, most of them point to Lonzo Ball. The former UCLA point guard has a lot to his game that the team may like, but there’s cons there too.
One major con is his father, LaVar, who has the potential to upend all that the Lakers have worked for with their young core. When D’Angelo Russell and Nick Young dealt with an off-the-court issue, we saw how much that impacted the team.

They can’t let that type of behavior continue.
Kentucky’s De’Aaron Fox is another great guard in this draft class that played better than Lonzo head to head in the college post-season.
Fox also scored more points on average than Ball, with 16.7 per game, respectively. On a stat sheet, Ball has Fox beat in terms of rebounding and assists, but not by much.
If the Lakers can find ways to get three more assists and two more rebounds per game that don’t come from Fox, would they really notice a difference?
Without LaVar Ball in the picture, absolutely.
Another great thing that Los Angeles should like about Fox is his work ethic. He’s not treating this draft opportunity like it’s been his along.
Instead, he’s chosen to show up for the combine, be open to working out with multiple teams, and even made an appearance at the draft lottery.
Where’s Lonzo? Under the arms of his father, who might never understand how to let his son go.
Fox, however, is ready to take the NBA by storm, and the Lakers would be wise to invest in a player like him.
