If the Celtics opt to not trade away this pick, it’s a no-brainer. It comes as the first time Boston gets first dibs on a draft in the lottery era.

Their trade with the Brooklyn Nets a few years ago involving names like Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett are still paying dividends.

This opportunity comes as they prepare to face the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. Despite being the number one overall seed, they appear to be the underdogs against a battle-tested Cavs team.

They both ensure a solid backup for Isaiah Thomas as well as his replacement if he leaves town.

Fultz has a lot of great aspects to his game that will excel in a place like Boston. He’s the creative scorer they need to get over the hump and seriously challenge Cleveland as soon as next season.

Also, it’s a team that Fultz can build good chemistry with.

Other than that, there’s not much to add to the seemingly unanimous first pick in the draft. Unless Boston pulls something crazy and goes for Jayson Tatum.
