79. . SG. South Carolina. Sindarius Thornwell. 9. player

A big reason we saw a welcomed surprise at March Madness was because of how Sindarius Thornwell helped push the Gamecocks to the Final Four. While there were other elite prospects in the tournament, Thornwell helped his NBA draft stock with how he played in the post-season.

He would transition well with the Mavericks, who could be taking him with their ninth overall pick.

At shooting guard, the Mavs currently have Wesley Matthews and Seth Curry. While that’s not a bad duo to have, adding more depth there wouldn’t hurt.

Dallas has a center, a point guard, and both forwards for the immediate future — but they need to think of long-term solutions for shooting guard.

Thornwell could be that guy, although if he’s drafted by them, it’d make sense to have him come off the bench. Being around a mix of veterans and younger players will help Thornwell flourish in an environment that’s not too frightening and at the same time helps him grow his own game.

Thornwell played through his senior year of college, and averaged 21.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game in 2016-17.
