27. . PG. Kentucky. Malik Monk. 8. player

The eighth pick of the draft will be former Kentucky guard Malik Monk. De’Aaron Fox, Dennis Smith Jr., and other top point guards will be off the table by this point, and Monk will have to get used to the Big Apple.

More from LA Sports Hub

After putting a lot of faith and trust in Derrick Rose, the Knicks got the short end of the stick. The former league MVP had another injury that kept him out of the latter part of the regular season, showing that it’d be best for them to move in another direction.

Monk would have a legitimate case to be an immediate starter in New York. If the Knicks officially part ways with Rose, that means Monk’s competition at point guard in terms of the depth chart will be Chasson Randle and Ron Baker.

What’s not as clear for Monk in New York is what will be around him. Big pieces to the puzzle like Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis haven’t had the best of times with the team’s front office lately.

While that may factor into Monk’s eventual free agency, he’ll be happy to play anywhere and finally get a shot in an NBA uniform.
