David Nwaba

Seeing a player get a call up to the Lakers was definitely a highlight of the regular season. With his opportunity, Nwaba made the most of it.

More from LA Sports Hub

He quickly went from being offered 10-day deals to signing a two year contract with the team. What’s great with him is that the team doesn’t run much, if any, financial risk by keeping him around.

The Lakers will pay him around $1.3 million for all of next season, and Nwaba has earned his right to play it out. His averages of six points and 3.2 rebounds per game are more than enough of a reason to keep him around.

What the 24-year old has to be sure to do next season is be a more active part of the core. Get the shots he knows he can make before taking risks on the court.

It’ll help him earn the trust of his teammates and ultimately give the chemistry more room to grow.  He still averaged less than an assist per game, which is where the team should look for improvement.

Regardless, that’s more of a reason to keep him than trade him since the focus should be investing in who they currently have.
