Closing Thoughts

For the Lakers, knowing what direction to go in is crucial. At this point, you’ve got more than enough draft picks, and you don’t want to bank again on the lottery.

Given that the changes in the front office also change their philosophy moving forward, they seem bent on growing around Ingram above anybody else.

In the best case scenario, they make the post-season as a lower seed. It wouldn’t mean anything in terms of them making a deep run, but it’d be enough of a sign to tell them — and the fans — that whatever plan they have is working.

Last year, Magic Johnson noted that the Lakers were almost to the point of being one of the top tier teams in the league. All they needed, he thinks, is a superstar.

Let’s say they improve and get to the post-season. Even in a first round or second round exit, they’ll have Paul George on the horizon after that.

It’s more than enough reason to be excited. As the long wait for a return to being good seems all but over.
