Corey Brewer

One of the roster pieces that Los Angeles acquired via trade last season was Corey Brewer. As part of the deal that sent Lou Williams to Houston, Brewer became another veteran that the team wanted to try and fit in their puzzle.

More from LA Sports Hub

Like Young, Brewer still has a season to go on his current contract. In 24 games played, the former seventh overall pick averaged just 5.4 points and 1.5 assists per game.

He hasn’t really factored much into the team’s wins or losses, and that should say a lot about his future in Los Angeles. Considering that one of the ultimate goals of next season will be transforming Brandon Ingram into the star forward they need him to be.

Since Brewer really doesn’t contribute much in that regard, whether you look at development or advice at the position, the team should test the waters with him as part of a package deal.

They won’t get a superstar in return for Brewer, obviously, but they could still pair him with enough of a package to get what he’s worth or more.

The team will officially be transitioning to its younger players as soon as it decides it’s next draft picks. Brewer should not be part of the long term picture whatsoever.
