Jordan Clarkson

Last season, Clarkson saw his role change to one off the bench alongside Lou Williams. While it seemed like an odd decision to make at first, it’s a spot where he thrived.

However, now that Williams is with the Rockets, Los Angeles could be intrigued to explore trade possibilities with him. Depending on how other teams across the league view his most recent season, Los Angeles might be better off waiting until deeper into next season to send him away.

A free agent last summer, Clarkson inked a four year deal worth $50 million. He averaged 14.7 points per game last season, with 2.6 assists and three rebounds to round his stat box out.

If he goes somewhere other than the Lakers, expect him to be included in a guard heavy package. Something about a Clarkson and Russell deal seems to make a lot of sense in terms of rumors.

If Los Angeles is going to depend more on a point guard from the draft, it’d make sense if they want to get rid of some of their best draft pick ups in recent years.

For a second round selection, Clarkson has shined in the opportunity that the Lakers has become for him. There’s no doubt that the 24-year old will be seen as valuable to a good number of teams, especially when you consider he’s only got two years under his belt.

Whether he exercises his potential in purple and gold or another uniform is something only time will tell.

But if they trade him, it’ll be this season.
