Lakers free agency rumors: Three reasons they should pursue Derrick Rose
By Keith Rivas
LA can give him a better role
Forget being the go-to starter — that’s not going to happen, even on the Lakers. Los Angeles has its eyes and mind on the draft and developing their next superstar that way.

With D’Angelo Russell looking like he’ll be shifting positions, grabbing Derrick Rose as a solid back up to whoever is running the point would be a smart idea.
Don’t give Rose the keys when you know that injury could take over at any minute. While he’s susceptible to that, it gives the Lakers more freedom to go after him their own way as it’s unsure what other teams want him just yet.
The Knicks, at least right now, feel a little bit like the Cleveland Browns of the NBA. Players that were good at one point early in their career go there only to be disappointed.
Letting Rose leave that carousel is something fans need to trust Johnson to handle the right way. Make it clear to Rose that he wouldn’t be starting if he came to Los Angeles, but he’ll have enough minutes to make a difference.
If you don’t give him too much to gamble with your season, the better question is why not go after him.
