Lorenzo Cain – OF

The Los Angeles Dodgers are having pretty great success with the bats in their hands right now. After a sluggish start, the Dodgers have managed to score 159 runs since the start of May, good enough for the fourth-best mark in the MLB in that time. However, there still is a hole in the Dodgers bats, and that is against left-handed pitching.

Los Angeles has had some success against left-handed pitching, but for the most part, the team has struggled immensely. The team has batted .247 against left-handed pitching, which is a huge improvement from their previous marks but still not all that great. This number is inflated due to the platoons Dave Roberts utilizes platoons that leave LA with no pop.

More from Dodgers Rumors

What the Dodgers truly lack is an everyday starter that can perform well against both left and right-handed pitching. They have guys like Corey Seager, Justin Turner, and now Cody Bellinger that have thrived; but as we have seen in the past it won’t last forever.

Lorenzo Cain brings exactly what the Dodgers need where they need it the most, the outfield. Franklin Gutierrez was brought in to hit lefties, but he is always out. Scott Van Slyke is awful and Enrique Hernandez is so up and down.

Yasiel Puig is consistent, so his spot is secure. One man who should be worried is Joc Pederson. I love Pederson as much as the next person, but if he continues to struggle his spot may not be guaranteed.

Especially considering that Cain is not a drop off in the fielding department, bringing in him may spell the end of Joc Pederson’s Dodgers tenure, in which he may be traded.

Who knows how Dave Roberts would manage that situation, he is always doing unorthodox things. All I know is that Lorenzo Cain fits the bill perfectly for the Dodgers, and according to these Dodgers rumors, he may become a target after this year.
