Lakers rumors: Three reasons to sign Dion Waiters this summer
By Keith Rivas
It shows the true power of Rob Pelinka
Once the team is able to draw in free agents, making others want to come and for longer than just a season or two is at the top of their list.
Putting former agent Rob Pelinka at the position of GM really does make that much of a difference. In addition to representing Kobe Bryant, Pelinka has also represented Waiters at one point.

This type of pull would be incredible and immediately impact the purple and gold as soon as next season.
Considering that the team isn’t in a position to be blowing money on washed up veterans like a year ago, Waiters would be one of the smartest moves they can make.
This obviously comes with the test of the price tag. If Waiters asks too much, is having his former agent in the negotiations going to helpful?
No doubt about it.
Not only that, but players that either will be free agents at that time or soon thereafter will want to know how those talks go.
Is Waiters happy with what he got? Was it a fair deal? Why did the price or length of contract change?
All questions that Rob Pelinka knows how to balance.
And if he can nab a play maker like Waiters, imagine the confidence that gives him and Magic Johnson moving forward.
