Closing Thoughts

Finally, here are some closing thoughts on the potential signing of Dion Waiters.

Going after him is about as safe of a free agency move as the team will make in the next two or so years. Nobody else really screams LA at this point because there hasn’t been a first splash.

While Waiters isn’t a superstar, he’s without question a game changer. He can also challenge the young core as necessary in sync with getting the team more in the win column.

Doing nothing in free agency might be what seems best right now, but even a small move goes a long way. So long as the move doesn’t take any necessary cap space, as Johnson probably views the money, to acquire Paul George when he hits the open market next summer.

If the current front office should take anything away before things get crazy, it’s that they don’t need to be desperate. They’re the Lakers.

Sixteen rings speak for themselves, and they’ve finally got what feels like the right professionals in order to get the job done.
