NFL Free Agency 2017 added a new receiver on Friday in Jeremy Maclin.

In a crazy move, the Kansas City Chiefs released their top wide receiver, Jeremy Maclin, in the middle of the off-season- a move rarely seen this close to training camp.

Maclin, who had a stunning 1,300 yard season on the Eagles in 2014, signed with the Chiefs the following off-season. He then went on to post another 1,000 yard season in his first year with the team but followed it up with only 500 yards the year after.

This news may have been surprising due to its timing. But was understandable because of his lack of chemistry with Alex Smith in 2016.

The Rams have the potential to sign Maclin and would certainly benefit greatly if he should join the offense.

Currently, the Rams’ top receivers are Robert Woods, Tavon Austin, and Cooper Kupp.

With Jared Goff struggling last season, the Rams should be seeking to get as much support for him as possible. For the Rams, the release of Maclin is nothing short of a miracle as the chance to sign an elite, veteran wideout in a year where they didn’t have a first round pick.

If they should choose to embrace this opportunity, they would be getting a fantastic, young receiver to complete their offense and grow alongside Goff and Todd Gurley.

Maclin has shown in the past that he has the potential to be a game changer on offense.

Now it is just a matter of whether or not the Rams are willing to make him an offer he can’t refuse.

If they do, however, it would change the passing game entirely and raise their chances of making the playoffs in 2017.
