Dodgers Rumors: Most viable All-Star candidates in Los Angeles
By Evan Lovett
Justin Turner/Alex Wood
When Justin Turner went on the disabled list in late May with a strained right hamstring, he was one of the best hitters in baseball. His .379 batting average was leading all qualifiers and was top five with a .946 OPS. His glove is stout, and his presence in the lineup ensures that the Dodgers have a power bat from the right side to slot between Seager and Gonzalez.

A clubhouse leader, Big Red is proving to be a Dodger legend in the making. While he needs to return soon and continue his strong play to earn a spot in the All-Star game if he does both of those things he will definitely be in strong consideration at an otherwise deep position.
Alex Wood went from swingman to the second starter in the matter of one month with the Dodgers, it showed that the perceived depth of the Dodgers rotation was a myth. It also showed that Wood, who flashed stretches of brilliance with the Atlanta Braves as a starter in 2014, was the real deal.
He was named National League Pitcher of the Month for May and has an unblemished 6-0 record with a sparkling 1.69 ERA on the season.

His 1.00 WHIP and .189 batting average against are amongst the league leaders in baseball, and he would be a shoo-in for All-Star consideration were he not on the disabled list with inflammation in the SC Joint. He is slated to return this week, and if he picks up where he left off, it is not a stretch to assume he will be in Miami on July 11th.
