With NBA Free Agency 2017 coming soon, the Clippers have to be ready for anything.

How Chris Paul decides to spend NBA Free Agency 2017 is completely up to him. On the one hand, he could stay loyal to Los Angeles and trust that they’ll contend better next season.

Or, as some in the media are led to believe, San Antonio could become his new home. In Los Angeles, Paul has yet to find that playoff success and championship drive that seemed to be coming his way after being traded.

The then-New Orleans Hornets couldn’t figure it out in the post-season, and Paul looked like he’d finally thrive under the spotlight.

San Antonio has become a very real option to Paul for several reasons. First and foremost, they know how to win.

Under Gregg Popovich, the Spurs are nearly perfect. There’s a lot of serious talent on their roster, but that just further shows how scary good Golden State is and has been.

Speaking of Golden State, Paul is likely to play where he’ll have the best chance to upend the Warriors. The Clippers did it a few years ago, but since then haven’t been the same.

Los Angeles didn’t even get their shot at the Warriors because they failed to beat the Jazz in the first round.

Additionally, a combination of Paul, Kawhi Leonard, and LaMarcus Aldridge could be the antidote for Golden State. An all-time great point guard alongside two talented stars that need someone special to run the offense.

Without Paul, the Clippers would have to go out of their way to even find a decent replacement. At that, there’s no guarantee that starters J.J. Redick and Blake Griffin return either.

The superstar point guard will definitely be the first domino to fall. And how he falls changes everything for what we once knew as Lob City.
