Minnesota Timberwolves

For Minnesota to be efficient with the kind of raw talent that they have, they need a point guard they can trust. Ricky Rubio may be more talented than Tyler Ennis, but the constant trade talk around Rubio can’t make him feel that welcome.

Signing Ennis for the right price would give the Wolves one more chance to trade Rubio or just release him to the free market. It’d give both parties some time to move on, and Ennis a chance to prove he can lead a team.

One of the reasons that landing in Minnesota is a top possibility is that the front office needs someone who can work on getting the other guys the ball more. Shooting comes in handy, and is obviously a huge plus, but Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins, and others can’t do it alone.

It also gives them some breathing room if Kris Dunn doesn’t step up more in his role with the team.

A move for Ennis has a lot of question marks, but that doesn’t mean that it is impossible. There’s always the chance that, under the right conditions at least, Ennis could prove to be extremely valuable.

The team will have a new look next season, too. That might sound like an odd reason to include, but think about it for a minute.

A team like the Timberwolves will want to be exciting to watch while also being good. They’ve had entertaining moments here and there, but aren’t at the top of their game collectively.

Ennis is the perfect dark horse point guard for them, and he won’t be expensive to keep at all.
