The latest Lakers rumors center on a potential promise to prospect Josh Jackson.

While the Lakers seem to still be decided who to take in the NBA Draft, a promise seems to have been made. One of the top prospects in the country, Josh Jackson, has been linked to a special word regarding draft night.

Los Angeles holds the second overall pick and could be one of the teams to pick Jackson. After impressing scouts and teams alike while at Kansas, there’s a lot to like about the small forward.

Here’s an excerpt from the report from SB Nation about the promise:

"According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 (a Phoenix-based radio station), Kansas forward Josh Jackson “has been promised” and that said promise “likely” came from the Lakers, although Gambadoro himself notes it’s possible it came from the Philadelphia 76ers.In draft parlance, a “promise” means that a team tells a player and his agent that they’ll select him in their draft slot if he’s available, so connecting the dots with the context of Gambadoro’s connections with the Suns, this likely means that’s why Phoenix thinks this is why Jackson hasn’t worked out for them."

This is certainly becoming a more interesting draft experience. The Lakers need a guy that can go out and dominant.

Keeping the young core together is also important. This year’s prospect will have to know that moving forward.

Josh Jackson can double as a shooting guard as well, so it shouldn’t surprise if the Lakers did make the promise.

Philadelphia is the team drafting after the Lakers. If nothing else, this does speak to the potential teams are seeing in the former Kansas phenom.
