Impressions from De’Aaron Fox and Josh Jackson

The Los Angeles Lakers started Tuesday off by working out the former Kentucky Wildcat De’Aaron Fox. Fox was one-half of a dangerous scoring backcourt alongside fellow draft commit Malik Monk. He averaged 16.7 points, 4.6 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game in his freshman year at Kentucky.

Fox is known for his blistering speed, however, on the flip side, his size could be an issue at the NBA level. Standing in at six-foot-two is not bad for a point guard, but at the NBA Combine Fox weighed in at just under 170 pounds, 17 pounds less than he was listed as with Kentucky.

While as of now there are no reports on what the Lakers thought of Fox, when discussing what he wishes the Lakers took from the workout, he said the following:

"That I can shoot the ball well. I stay in the gym. I’ve always been a gym rat. I’ve always been working on my shot. That’s just one thing. And that I’m a fighter. Even if I’m tired and my hands are on my knees, you’re still going to get the most out of me."

As for Josh Jackson, Tuesday marked the second workout for the Kansas Jayhawk. Reports are showing the Lakers are very split between Jackson and Ball, with the team attempting to also schedule a second workout with the UCLA guard.

Jackson would provide a much different dynamic than the rest of the top targets in the NBA Draft. Playing small forward in college, Jackson would likely transition into a shooting guard for the Lakers, even saying that “I think I bring a lot to the table, especially being able to switch on pretty much any position except the five.”
