Clippers news: Sindarius Thornwell gives them small glimpse of hope
By Keith Rivas
The latest Clippers news focuses on how Sindarius Thornwell could impact the team.
For Clippers news to be good, Thornwell will have to be in the middle of it.
Originally, the Clippers didn’t have a pick in this summer’s NBA Draft. They found their way in, and used their pick to draft guard Sindarius Thornwell from South Carolina.
With Chris Paul and Blake Griffin open to exploring free agency options, Thornwell could come in handy sooner than later. He willing the Gamecocks to the Final Four, putting up impressive numbers before declaring for the draft.

At South Carolina, Thornwell averaged 21.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. If Paul decides to go somewhere else, the Clippers will need all the help they can get.
Without strong guard play, the Clippers don’t stand a chance in the Western Conference. It’s the side of the league lately dominated by guys like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
While Thornwell could prove to be something special, it’s also important to keep our expectations realistic. Being a late draft pick, he’s got a great chip on his shoulder the team can work with.
Putting that motivation into play is what the Clippers need to turn things around. Thornwell can bring energetic play up and down the floor, but he’ll have to be extraordinary to save Los Angeles.
Out of anywhere he could’ve landed though, he’ll get the best use in LA. If the Clippers are smart, they’ll use him to get the most out of an unpredictable season.
For Thornwell to truly be effective, his scoring will have to transition well. Rebounding shouldn’t be as much of a focus for his game, but anything could help in the long run.

If the front office likes what they see from him, don’t be surprised if he’s one of the guards in their long term plans.
