Closing Thoughts

At the end of the day, this is what the organization wanted. They didn’t feel they were getting the necessary leadership or quality play, and they made a change about it.

Now, though, if the change ends up not working or creating an even worse situation, it’ll be time to question their judgment. Additionally, with all of the talk surrounding LaVar Ball, it’s hard to say that his commentary won’t at least eventually become problematic.

Again, this is the time, if there ever was one, for the Lakers to show that they’re back. Not only that they can draft good talent and find quality management, but that they’re ready to win again. With the second most championships in NBA history, it’s hard to think of a time when the Lakers were in this position.

That’s because they’ve never been here before.

The hope is that Lonzo Ball is their last lottery pick for some time, while the rest of the team picks up the slack from the past. Brandon Ingram needs to step up, Julius Randle must have a breakout season, and Ball must stop the show in its tracks.
