Lakers rumors: Getting a star could hurt Lonzo Ball
By Keith Rivas
The latest Lakers rumors are that a superstar could hurt Lonzo Ball.
Now that Los Angeles has their point guard of the future, all Lakers rumors are now on them getting a big name. Guys like Paul George, LeBron James, and others are all on the table in the summer of 2018.
All that gives rookie Lonzo Ball is a one year cushion. He’ll be able to run the team his way, but once they get a star, that’s not a guarantee anymore.
One major reason this should worry Ball is if they do end up with Paul George. Lately, he’s seemed like the star most ready to join the Lakers and has verbally declared that he wants to be with the Lakers.

Personality wise, George is the type of player that is either in control or extremely frustrated. Not only that, but he’ll be openly critical of any teammates that try to take the moment away from him. This was evident this past season during the playoffs, where another Pacers player took a late game shot.
That player missed, causing George to be frustrated when speaking to the press.
Whether or not Lonzo Ball would handle, let alone welcome, that would be a sight to see. So, there’s not only that potential problem with Lonzo, but we haven’t even addressed his father yet.
Can you imagine a star wanting to play long term with Lonzo Ball if his father is as critical of players as he was while his son played at UCLA?
Yeah, not going to happen.
There’s a lot of hope that this front office has put into next summer. That doesn’t mean we should buy into that vision just yet, but rather take it for a grain of salt.

Right now, they’ll have to get through Ball’s rookie season and just take it from there.
