Lakers rumors: Three reasons why the Lakers could turn down Paul George
By Keith Rivas
He gets sucked in to another super team
One of the possibilities when he was in trade talks was going to Cleveland. If he had joined the Cavs, he would’ve had an immediate shot at a title. Playing with LeBron James isn’t something players in the league walk away from.
More often than not, they’ll stick around James.
It’s hard to say that Oklahoma City is necessarily a super team just yet. Russell Westbrook is on another level, and adding Paul George helps somewhat, but are two stars even enough to take down an entire elite roster?

The reason he won’t get snagged by Cleveland is because they’ll have their own dilemma in re-signing LeBron James. It’s a guarantee that they don’t want him to walk away like he did when he left for Miami.
One of the other teams he could join is the Los Angeles Clippers. If the Lakers are off the table, he may still want to come to LA and use that route. Alternatively, Westbrook could try and convince him to stay with the Thunder if they do well together or have a real shot at another star.
This would be a domino effect of the previously mentioned reason. The Lakers are going to need solid reasoning to believe that George isn’t worth it next summer. They’re banking on it at this point, but a lot can change in just one season.
