He gets cold feet

He might be in love with Los Angeles now, but will he be after a year in Oklahoma City? Los Angeles is a much bigger market — one of the many reasons for athletes to love it there — but will his heart still be telling him to go purple and gold?

An unfortunate answer to that is no. The crazy part is that this wouldn’t be the first time that the Lakers missed out on a star for either waiting too long to make a move or hoping a time bomb didn’t explode.

A more recent case would be with Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan. Not long ago, there was all sorts of talk, conversation, and speculation that he’d return home to play for the Lakers. It would’ve been a welcomed sight and something they could’ve used, but it didn’t happen.

Maybe it was because he lost interest or more money offered by Toronto was more enticing. Whatever the reason, a player who was high on their radar during a summer love triangle took the other side.

Paul George could find a long-term home with the Thunder, especially if Westbrook stays around. Since Kevin Durant left, the Thunder have been waiting for someone to fill that role of superhero next to Westbrook.

And now they have their guy, so the Lakers are stuck in limbo for right now.
