Lonzo Ball is turning heads in Summer League after second triple double
By Keith Rivas
It seems like Lonzo Ball is finding his groove very early on in Summer League.
The rest of us probably thought Lonzo Ball was going to be a hard bust after his debut. It’s hard to think otherwise when you realize all of the hype that went into his first NBA game.
Los Angeles picked him in part to save a young core from sinking after trading their former point guard of the future. If you fill that spot for a team, you’d better be good.
Since his disappointing start, Lonzo Ball has let his actions do the talking. Two of the last three games have resulted in a triple double. The game in between that was an explosion for over thirty points.

All it really seemed to take for Lonzo was just getting comfortable on offense. He finally got to the point where he knows where his weapons are and he runs the offense in a way that caters to that perfectly.
When it comes to the regular season, the hope is that Lonzo Ball can keep it up. Whether or not he’ll be able to run with the bigger, better defenders that aren’t in the Summer League has yet to be seen.
However, if he does end up blowing the roof off in Los Angeles or in an away game, expect that to be the first domino to fall. All it takes is him breaking the glass ceiling once to be a dangerous threat every time he comes down the floor.
Not to mention the fact that how he handles criticism affects the rest of the team. D’Angelo Russell was notorious for not handling it well, and not really finding ways to make himself better.
The Lakers now have a point guard with the exact opposite mentality. He wants the team to be better and isn’t as selfish on the floor as most are at his position.

Lastly, if the Lakers make the playoffs this year and make a statement by escaping rounds one or two, we’ll only have Lonzo Ball to thank. He is ready to unlock the full potential of this young core, including the recently drafted stars in Josh Hart, Thomas Bryant, and Kyle Kuzma.
