Felipe Rivero

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been tied to other Pittsburgh pitchers in Gerrit Cole and Ivan Nova, but they could make a shocking move for the Pirates best relief arm in Felipe Rivero. The 26-year-old southpaw has been nothing short of dominant this season. In fact, he leads all relief pitchers in ERA with a 0.72. This is the only man who Kenley Jansen is trailing.

More from Dodgers Rumors

The crazy part is Rivero is not doing this on limited exposure, he is one of the more active relief pitchers in the league. On top of leading relievers in ERA, he is fourth in innings pitched having logged 49.2 innings.

Rivero is just another example of a great reclamation project in Pittsburgh. We all know that the Pirates aren’t going to win the World Series with their current group of guys, so a huge shake up could be in store.

Los Angeles would have to pay more for Rivero simply due to his age and his dominance on the mound. However, if they wanted to throw all of their eggs in one basket they could even reach out for Andrew McCutchen as well.

McCutchen is having a great bounce back season from last year and has his southpaws to a .328 clip. This would be a nice change of scenery from Joc Pederson, who is my personal favorite. I love him and all, but bringing in a consistent bat in McCutchen with Rivero really solidifies the team’s World Series chances.
