RHP Yadier Alvarez (Ranked first)

Yadier Alvarez is the top rated prospect in the Dodgers system, according to MLB Pipeline. However, Alvarez’ stock is falling and quite frankly, I have never been a huge fan of his. Yes, his high nineties fastball is intimidating and could strike a lot of MLB batters out, but the transition professional baseball in the states has not translated well.

More from Dodgers Rumors

Baseball America shares this sentiment that Alvarez’ stock is falling, ranking him as the 60th best prospect in baseball after starting 34 spots higher in the beginning of the season. Pitching to a 5.31 ERA in single A will do that to you.

Not to mention that Walker Buehler, previously the second best pitcher in the Dodgers farm, has seen his stock skyrocket this season. Buehler has posted a combined 2.89 ERA in single and double A this season earning a promotion to AAA. Reports are even indicating that Buehler may join the big league club when the rosters expand as a bullpen asset.

With Buehler now the main focus of the Dodgers farm, this gives much more flexibility to deal Alvarez. His stock is falling, yes, but he still is a formidable trade chip. Andrew Friedman is a genius when it comes to selling high and buying low, and may look to sell Alvarez before further plummets.

This would undoubtedly be to get a great right-handed starting pitcher, something many fans have called for. Los Angeles has seemingly been short handed every postseason with pitching, so adding one more arm would be huge.

Next: It is time for the Dodgers to reconsider Andrew McCutchen

Whether the team does make a trade or not is yet to be seen. As of now, it is merely just Dodgers rumors. However, LA does have some prospects to play with to increase their chances of winning it all.
