Kyrie Irving Trade: Three reasons it makes a lot of sense for Lakers

A quicker path to dethroning Golden State
The Warriors were one game away from currently being a three time defending champion in the NBA. As ridiculous as that sounds, they’ve managed to make winning — and scoring — look easier and more flawless than ever.
Teams in the Western Conference made plenty of moves to try and take their shot at the champs. Minnesota pursued many options including a deal that landed Jimmy Butler. San Antonio is looking to possibly build an even scarier squad than the second seeded team from a year ago.
Houston added Chris Paul in a thrilling trade with the other team from Los Angeles. So why can’t the Lakers make a splash?

It was Magic Johnson himself that noted all the Lakers needed was a superstar to be on the superteam level. That’s saying a lot, and as the previous slide pointed out, it will be telling whichever direction they decide to go on Kyrie Irving.
Picking up Kyrie through the aforementioned Brook Lopez deal would allow the starting lineup to look pretty dangerous. Kyrie Irving and Lonzo Ball in the back court, with Brandon Ingram and Julius Randle at the forward slots, and Ivica Zubac sharing time with Thomas Bryant at center.
Sure, it takes a gamble with the young guys, but isn’t that why you drafted them in the first place? If nothing else, Kyle Kuzma has proved that he’ll be a serious x-factor this upcoming season, and that matters a lot when you try to predict how Irving would fit in.
While it wouldn’t automatically make the Lakers legit contenders to come out alive of the Western Confernece, it would absolutely give the Warriors another headache to worry about.
