Chargers Rumors: Robert Griffin III to work out with the team
By Keith Rivas
The latest Chargers rumors have it that Robert Griffin III could be coming to town.
In order for the Chargers to be able to do better than the Rams in Los Angeles, a few things have to happen. First, they need to ensure that they can succeed with the pressure of being the second team in a major city.
Just because they moved to Los Angeles doesn’t mean they should expect success to just come to them. They’ll also need more production from guys like Melvin Gordon, as a running game could the ultimate key.
Todd Gurley has had a few successful seasons in the league, but his sophomore year was night and day from his rookie of the year campaign. Someone who knows that pain is Robert Griffin III, who won the award in 2012, but has fallen drastically since then.
Thanks to serious injury, Griffin III won’t likely be how he used to be ever again. But that doesn’t mean he’s not good enough to make a difference. According to a report from NBC Sports, the Chargers will work him out this week.

It was a hard season for him in Cleveland after not returning to Washington, but that’s all said and done now. Los Angeles could offer him a fresh start and be a place where he can revive his career.
One of the reasons that the Chargers and RG III can help each other is because of the fact that they could use a quality backup. Philip Rivers is a great arm and talent in the NFL, but what happens when he goes down with an injury?
The Chargers can’t afford to overlook that, and with Griffin III not getting attention from other teams, it’s the perfect scenario for them to take a chance.
If all goes well, the combination of Griffin III and Gordon would be a sight to see. Depending on how much speed Griffin III gets back when the season begins, it could be something that wins them games more than anything else.
Griffin III had his career turn down a different road after his Redskins fell to fellow newcomer Russell Wilson and the Seahawks in the postseason. Since that playoff game, Wilson has seen multiple Super Bowl games and one with a Lombardi Trophy in his hands.
