The latest Lakers news is about Lonzo Ball being given an 80 overall in the new NBA 2k18 video game.

One of the better things about the NBA off-season is the fun that comes with playing NBA 2k. It’s become an incredibly popular sports video game, offering a realistic installment each year.

Lonzo Ball, the latest face of the Lakers, has finally gotten the verdict on his overall rating for the game. Ironically, it’s identical to that of former Lakers point guard D’Angelo Russell – 80.

Ball enters Los Angeles during a crucial season for the Lakers. The team is in need of a revival, and Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka had enough trust in the Chino Hills kid to draft him second overall.

Both Ball and number one overall pick from this summer Markelle Fultz received grades of 80. They are two of the highest ratings that a rookie has ever received as part of the video game.

Los Angeles could make the playoffs this season with Lonzo Ball leading the way, but a lot more has to happen than improvement in their passing game. Ball showed a lot of his talent in the Summer League in Las Vegas, throwing down triple doubles and setting the record for most assists per game in Summer League history.

No big deal, right?

Also, this is important to know with regard to his rating because Lakers fans can now know what to expect from him if they choose to play with their squad. We have yet to see if the move for Ball over Russell was the right move.

NBA 2k is just a video game in many aspects, but how Ball plays when the regular season actually comes around will change how he’s represented in the game.

Fultz and Ball are two of the most highly anticipated prospects and young players in years. Each of them has the chance to be a franchise-changing player — and a solid 2k rating backs that belief up even more.
