The latest buzz around the Los Angeles Lakers has been a seemingly cryptic tweet from the King himself, LeBron James. However, despite James’ ongoing presence in Lakers rumors, these tweets should be taken with a grain of salt.

LeBron James is widely regarded as the face of basketball and, outside of maybe Tom Brady, may be the most recognizable name in American sports. Many believe James to still be the best basketball player on the planet, challenging the legacies of past greats before him. After spending time in both Cleveland and Miami, many speculate that James may take his talents to the Lakers.

This partnership would work out perfectly for both sides. The Lakers, in the midst of their worst stretch in franchise history, need superstars. Los Angeles has seemingly always boasted a superstar and now that Kobe Bryant hung up the sneakers, LA is without any true viable star.

Young talents such as Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram certainly can grow into that mold, but LA sports fans are impatient. Being a fan of two LA sports teams, I can directly attest to this. For a franchise that is so prestigious, four years without the playoffs seems like a century.

As for James, Los Angeles is the perfect place to hold his star. Cleveland is a relatively small basketball market, with James being the only reason it is so prominent. As for Miami, the market is certainly there but the fanbase can be shaky. Los Angeles, on the other hand, has a very passionate fanbase in the second largest market in the United States.

Moving to Los Angeles would allow James more freedom to bring in other superstars, forming a super team on the biggest stage possible. James can be confident in the Lakers front office now that Magic Johnson is running things; great minds think alike.

Not to mention that King James lives in Los Angeles. Well, him living in Los Angeles has only further driven these Lakers rumors home.

The basketball world practically has erupted at this tweet, many thinking that James is hinting at some future plans in the making. James has been tied to the Lakers in the past, causing an uproar that could potentially lead to James suiting up in the purple and gold for one last go after this season.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

Many different outlets have covered this one tweet, hoping that it is a cryptic message from James. One challenge LeBron has never pursued is the Western Conference, making this all the more interesting.

However, this tweet means – well, nothing.

Everyone who thinks that they are a basketball analyst is looking at this tweet with a keen eye, thinking they can be the one to pick apart LeBron’s true motives. News flash, there is none. James is not calling Los Angeles his new home, or even referring to any Los Angeles team. He is simply referring to his mansion in Los Angeles.

Does this mean that there is no chance of James playing for the Lakers? Absolutely not. However, James has lived in this house for nearly three years. Just now, because of this one tweet, everyone is assuming that James living in LA is part of some master plan.

It’s not. Granted, there may be a day that James calls the Staples Center his home. His Los Angeles home has nothing to do with that.
