Dodgers Release Postseason Schedule and Ticket Prices
By Evan Lovett
Though the calendar still reads ‘August,’ the Dodgers are in playoff mode – especially with an absurd 85-34 record and a magic number of 25. Playoff mode begets playoff tickets, and the Dodgers released the pricing of postseason tickets yesterday.
The playoff schedule was released earlier this month, with the Wild Card games taking place on October 3rd and 4th for the American League and National League, respectively. With the Dodgers’ mammoth lead in the division – they currently hold an 18.5 game lead over the second-place Colorado Rockies – the club projects to win the division, and would thus start their postseason in the National League Division Series.
The Dodgers also have a 13.5 game lead over the second best team in the NL, the Washington Nationals, and thusly would have home-field advantage for ecach postseason series.
The scheduled date for game one of the NLDS is October 6th. Tickets for that game and the rest of that round range from $31 to $236, per Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times. The NLDS is a best-of-five series, and if the series goes five games, the fifth game will take place on Thursday, October 12th.
If the Dodgers advance to the National League Championship Series, game one will take place on Saturday, October 14th with a potential game seven at Dodger Stadium taking place on October 22nd.
Ticket prices for the NLCS range from $63 to $256.
The range of prices is accounted for various seating packages and areas, as the Dodgers have denoted 84 separate categories for pricing. This includes single-game ticket holders, full season-ticket holders, mini-plan purchasers, and ranging from the Pavilion to reserve to field level.
The Dodgers have not yet announced a date that ticket sales will commence, but secondary market retailer Barry’s Tickets has noted that “The Los Angeles Dodgers Postseason tickets 2017 will go on sale the second week of September.” It is worth noting that in 2016, Dodgers postseason tickets did not go on sale until September 20th.
Should the Dodgers advance to the World Series for the first time since 1988, Game one will be hosted on Tuesday, October 24th. The price range for World Series tickets would be in the $166 to $531 range. The Dodgers currently hold an 11.5-game lead over the Houston Astros for best record in baseball, and would host game one and game seven at this pace.
Game seven is set for Wednesday, November 1st and would incidentally represent the first time the Dodgers ever played a game in November. The last World Series game to be played at Dodger Stadium was October 16th, 1988– a 6-0 victory over the Oakland A’s en route to the most recent championship celebrated by the baseball fans of Los Angeles.
