Candace Parker and Los Angeles Sparks dismantle the Mystics
Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks led the dismantling of the Washington Mystics.
The Los Angeles Sparks understand Washington is no easy team to defeat, even without their star player Elena Delle Donne.
LA didn’t just dismantle the Mystics they embarrassed them with almost the entire team contributing. For the Sparks, there was only one player who didn’t earn minutes in this victory.
Everyone else earned minutes and contributed in some fashion. Some of the bench players crashed the glass to receive rebounds, while others scrappily scored points.
Sparks head coach Brian Agler played different rotations and to his team’s strengths.
Despite not playing the most minutes, Candace Parker led the Sparks in points scored. Parker and Lavender lead the team with seven rebounds each. Also, Parker was one of two people on the team who attempted and made a three pointer.
Odyssey Sims was the other player to make at least one three pointers. Sims played 37 minutes, the most of any Sparks player. Additionally, she scored 18 points and 7 assists. She made both three pointers she attempted, going perfect from beyond the arc.
LA only made three out of five attempted three pointers. The Sparks were able to win this game by only making three, three pointers. Now, this is impressive and shows fans, teams can win games without even making three pointers.
They won by making most of their attempted field goals. LA went 40-65 from the field. Their counterparts didn’t do so well as they went 24-62 from the field. The Sparks out rebounded the Mystics 33-23.

However, one negative aspect of the game was that LA allowed Washington to attempt 21 three pointers. The good news is the Mystics only made four three pointers, but still, LA allowed them to shoot from beyond the arc too many times.
This can be interpreted in many ways. One of those ways is that Agler and the Sparks were okay with the Mystics shooting from downtown. They didn’t want them to drive to the basket.
After the results of the game, I would say the Sparks accomplished their goal in a 33 point victory. Let us not forget LA knows this game wasn’t easy even without the Mystics star player.
The LA Sparks are gaining ground on the Lynx for the best record in the WNBA. Last night the Sparks received some help with the Storm defeating the Lynx.
With this strong, the speculation can begin that the Los Angeles Sparks will bring home their second consecutive championship.
