Sammy Watkins agrees with Kyrie Irving, believes Earth is flat
By Keith Rivas
Sammy Watkins of the Los Angeles Rams has come out in support of the flat-Earth theory.
Just when you thought the bizarre things some athletes believe couldn’t grow any bigger, it’s now evident that that couldn’t be further from the truth. According to Los Angeles Times reporter Lindsey Thiry, Watkins disclosed his personal beliefs about the shape of the Earth during a locker room interview.
Insisting that the focus stay on football, Thiry pointed out that it was a bit of a shock to hear what Watkins thoughts were on the flat-Earth theory. He’s not alone, though, as others have voiced their ideas on a flat Earth, including Celtics star Kyrie Irving.
The irony here is that during one of Jared Goff’s interviews last year, he was confused about how the rising and setting sun worked with regard to direction. In its entirety, whatever Sammy Watkins believes isn’t something that should be blown too out of proportion.
However, in the same breath, it is also vital to keep in mind just how much of an influence these athletes are on kids around the United States and the rest of the world as well. That’s really where the concern is from people critiquing players like Watkins and Irving, which can be understandable.
In any case, the Los Angeles Rams take on the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night football to start Week 3 of the regular season. San Francisco is looking for their first win of 2017, while Jared Goff and company hope to improve to 2-1 on the year after a sloppy loss to the Redskins in Week 2.
