This trade is going back to the Lakers desire to bring in two stars. Right now, the Lakers do not have any real star power on their roster; unless Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram sky rocket and reach their ceilings this season. Because of this, it is going to be harder for the Lakers to sell any superstars on joining LA.

However, there are superstar trade options out there for the Lakers. One is Eric Bledsoe, and although he may not be the biggest star in the NBA, he certainly is a very solid player. Last season, Bledsoe averaged 21.1 points, 6.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game.

The Suns are also in a very similar situation as the Los Angeles Lakers. Phoenix is in rebuilding mode, committing fully to building around Devin Booker. The Suns have brought in young talents such as Josh Jackson and Dragan Bender, but still, lack that last piece.

Quite frankly, keeping Bledsoe around in Phoenix is a waste of time for both parties. Even with Bledsoe, the team is not going to win anything anytime soon. So, the Suns may be better-suited trading away all of their big contracts, Bledsoe included.

In return, the Suns would be bringing in Caldwell-Pope, who is on an expiring deal this season. However, the most intriguing part of this deal is the Lakers 2019 first round pick. Here, the Lakers are banking on their chances of being a playoff team and being a non-lottery pick anyways. For both sides, it is a gamble worth taking.

With Bledsoe in the fray for at least one more season after this season, the Lakers may have all the bargaining power. If so, the Lakers rumors of bringing in Paul George and DeMarcus Cousins may just come to life.
