Dodgers: Three things to remember to help soften the World Series loss
By Jason Reed
3. The 2014-2015 Royals
If you squint hard enough, pictures of the 2015 Kansas City Royals celebrating a World Series victory looks like the Los Angeles Dodgers. While this may be the last thing fans want to see, another team celebrating a World Series, it is exactly the right reassurance for the future. Sure, the Dodgers did not get it done in 2017, but nothing will change that now.
It is time to look forward to the future and the 2018 season. There is no better reminder than the 2014-2015 Kansas City Royals that the future could be bright.

In fact, the parallels between the 2017 Dodgers and the 2014 Royals are easily drawn. Both lost the World Series in seven games at home. Both teams were 2-2 at home and 1-2 on the road. Whereas the Royals were shut down by dominant pitching from Madison Bumgarner, the Dodgers were met with the ferocious bat of George Springer.
The 2017 Dodgers clinched home-field advantage throughout the postseason on September 26; the 2014 Kansas City Royals clinched a playoff berth on September 26. Both teams walked their way into the World Series. Kansas City went 8-0, the Dodgers 7-1.
After losing to the San Francisco Giants the Kansas City Royals returned to the World Series to defeat the New York Mets in five games. Like the Dodgers, their young core was intact and there was cap space to acquire key players. The Royals brought in Kendrys Morales, Ben Zobrist and Johnny Cueto, to name a few.

Hopefully, the Dodgers can mimic the Kansas City Royals and bring in the same kind of additions. As for the rest of the factors, these two teams are parallel, so maybe, just maybe the Dodgers can become the 2018 World Series Champions. If that does happen, the victory will be so much sweeter.
