Lakers Rumors: Three reasons Kyle Kuzma is the team MVP
By Keith Rivas
He helps the Lakers facilitate who to trade next
Whether it’s Julius Randle or Jordan Clarkson, it’s just not that clear as to who the Lakers are going to be dealing next. There’s cases both of these players, but you could argue that they wouldn’t be strong arguments if it weren’t for Kuzma’s emergence.
Los Angeles knows they can depend on Kuzma to fill the role of Julius Randle if he’s traded, and if Clarkson is traded then there’s a good chance that Kuzma’s scoring will go up with the more shots he’s able to take.
Honestly, this should be what surprises fans the most, but makes them feel good about the direction of their team at the same time. As long as the Lakers don’t make some sort of reckless trade, there doesn’t seem to be like there’s really a bad deal to be had because of what they’ve got on their depth chart .
Also, this will buy the Lakers a little bit of of time to see how everything flows together, which is why the chemistry part of Kuzma’s game is important as mentioned earlier. Lonzo Ball might make everyone around him better for now, but watch for Kuzma to add that next part to his game.
We have to keep in mind that he’s also just a rookie. This is just the beginning of something very special for him at the professional level. Los Angeles needed a hero to get them out of the chaos, and they might’ve just found him in the 27th pick of the 2017 draft.
