Our Take

Wonderful. Masterful. A true work of art by the Los Angeles Dodgers’ front office and all parties involved. This move was nothing short of excellent for the Los Angeles Dodgers and just another reminder why Andrew Friedman’s front office is still one of the best in baseball.

More from LA Sports Hub

Sure, the Dodgers have been pretty quiet this offseason and have struck out on the big stars they are tied to. While personally this has frustrated me, it also makes sense to me. While I have been pretty vocal about how complacency never leads to results, this move showed no complacency.

The Dodgers managed to become a much better ball club, cut some of their salary and managed to do all of that without making much noise. Nobody really saw this move coming and those outside the picture may not understand the implications this trade possesses.

Friedman is the best at making small moves matter down the line; this is going to be another example of that.

The Dodgers definitely hit a home run on this deal. Sure, it may not be a superstar like Giancarlo Stanton that practically guarantees another World Series berth. What this is though is smart managing for the present and smart managing for the future. Well done.

Overall, Dodger fans should be very excited for the prospects that this deal holds. While you may not see Scott Alexander or Jake Peter jerseys flying off the shelf, what you will see is two solid acquisitions to the Dodgers that nobody saw coming.
