Trade option #3:

Dwight Howard in a Lakers’ uniform again? I am sure a lot of people do not want to see that. Howard did not necessarily have a great tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers and may be one of the most despised players by Laker fans.

While the first two deals were in the Lakers’ favor and neutral, this deal swings in the Hornets’ favor. If the Lakers got desperate and wanted Walker that bad, this is likely the deal the Hornets would push first.

The two sides are swapping expensive centers. The distinct difference, however, is Lopez is on an expiring deal. Howard, on the other hand, is owed just under $24 million next season. Again, Clarkson and Walker neutralize each other and Randle is thrown in as an incentive. Unlike the other two deals, KCP is not involved.

This deal may not be the best, but it is not all bad for the Lakers. Howard still has a decent amount to offer at just 32. Howard is averaging 15.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. Quite frankly, the case can be made that Howard is still better than Lopez.

Plus, the Lakers still would get to free up the contracts of KCP and Corey Brewer after this season. That leaves the Lakers with around $28 million to play with, more than enough to land a Paul George type player.

Then, the Lakers starting five consists of Lonzo Ball, Kemba Walker, Paul George, Brandon Ingram and Dwight Howard. It may not be the prototypical super team that Laker fans expected, but it is certainly easier to put together than bringing in LeBron AND DeMarcus Cousins AND Paul George.

It may not be a great deal on paper, but do not count this trade, or any other Lakers rumors, out.
